Additional Comments: 7th scroll. Still in an anti-gilding mood (fear factor of it + no training in it), I found the shiniest gold paint pen I could at Michael's craft store. Problems encountered with this pen was the obvious DO NOT INHALE (kidney damage) on the label, and the fact that it did not lay an even layer of ink down on the page (hence the crosshatching to produce a more solid background).
This was a "gotcha" scroll for Jenna. When I received the assignment,
my first thought was "Oh God, I'm going to have to PC the hell out of this
one". To my delightful surprise, after poking around in "stealth scribe"
mode, I found out it was someone I knew, and the story of her namesake
dates back to an archery shoot run at my first SCA event - a namesake I
had borne witness to. With that, the "scribe fairy" hit me on the head
for the wording... Nearly Iambic pentameter, which happens once in a blue
moon for me. The story of her naming was told to me by her lord boyfriend,
Ld John the Bear (see reference to "Bjorn" in the scroll text) - that is,
at that particular event, during one friend-foe shoot (created by fellow
archer-scribe Ld Geoffrei St Albans of Eastwood) involving a dragon named
"Lordzilla", Jenna's aim was a little "off".... One of arrows hit a target
of a child, smack between the eyes (see the reference to "unicorn" in the
scroll text). :D
Love ya both, guys....
Other references are tucked into the scroll there too.. Juggling, her pottery (Jazz Quinn Arts), & member of House 3 Skulls. If I'd thought of it, I would have put "Hell's Bells" in there as well (these ladies profess to be the worst singing cadre around...).
True. This isn't a "period" piece. But it was damned fun, and Jenna
LOVES this. (Immediately framed as soon as event was over). :)
